Hi - I'm the developer behind StripHTML.com, and I've been running it on my own since 2011.

The site started during my parental leave, the year my first child was born. Between feeds and naps I kept running into the same small irritation: a bit of messy text that needed its HTML removed, and no quick way to do it. Every option meant opening an editor and hunting for the right regex, which felt ridiculous for a job that should take three seconds. So I built the tool I wanted. One text box, one button, plain text back.

I expected it to be a small personal helper. Instead, people found it almost straight away and started asking for the jobs next door, like counting characters, converting case and removing line breaks. I've been adding tools the same way ever since. Someone writes in with a small text problem, and a few weeks later there's usually a page for it. That child is a teenager now, and so is the site.

I care a lot about the small things. I write every tool by hand, without AI models or heavy frameworks, and I spend a surprising amount of time on edge cases most people never notice, like rebuilding the spacing after removing an em dash so you don't end up with a stray comma. Most of the tools run entirely in the browser, because I don't think your text should have to travel anywhere to get cleaned up.

I've also kept the site free, without signups, pro tiers or daily limits. A few ads pay for the hosting, and I'd rather have that than put a login in front of something this simple.

If you have an idea for a new tool, feel free to write me. You'll get a reply from me, not a support queue, and there's a good chance your idea ends up on the site. :)
